1. The way chapter 3 starts what do you think Paul is doing?

2. What does he command his readers to do. Why is this a safeguard?

3. To whom is Paul referring in verses 2-3? What do you think he thinks of them? Why? What was so wrong with what they were doing and teaching?

4. What did circumcision represent under the old covenant? What is different in the new covenant? Why boast is Christ only and not in the flesh?

5. What does Paul think of human achievements, including his own?

6. What happened to make Paul's heart different? (cf. Acts 9:1-19)

7. What does it mean to count things to be loss?

8. To Paul, what are all things in comparison to Christ? What is his point? What does "rubbish" mean? Do you hold on to your rubbish?

9. Where does righteousness come from? How was Paul made right?

10. What is the "power of His Resurrection"? What does it mean to be conformed to His death?

11. Sanctification is a process, according to Paul's own testimony. What does Paul say he is doing?

13. For most of us, why is verse 13 so encouraging?

14. What is the final goal? Is Paul talking about earning his way there?

15. What does Paul mean in verse 15? What attitude should they have? What did Paul trust would happen to those who did not understand this?

16. What does it mean to live up to the "standard" we have?

17. What separates Paul from the Judiazers so that the Philippians should follow him?

18. What are the attributes of the enemies of the cross of Christ? What is their end?

19. Why shouldn't Christians set their minds on earthly things? What will happen to Christians?
