Discussion Questions:

1. Who wrote this letter written?

2. To whom was it written?

3. What is Paul's view of the people in this church? What is the tone of the letter?

4. What does verse 6 mean? Compare it to 1 Corinthians 1:8-9.

5. What does it mean to "defend and confirm" the Gospel?

6. What was Paul's prayer for these people? How (by or through what) is their love to abound? What are the two aspects he mentions?

7. What has happened to Paul? How is this a good thing?

8. What do you think of Paul's attitude in verse 15-18?

9. What do you think of his attitude in verses 21-26? Do you relate to this?

10. What does Paul command his readers to do in verse 27? Why is the word he uses significant to them?

11. Why shouldn't we be frightened by those who oppose us (i.e. the Gospel)?

12. From where does our salvation come? And what also comes (is granted) to us?

13. Is their comfort in suffering together with someone?
