New Testament Study Series
Galatians 5

Discussion Questions:

1. How did Christ set us free? Why did Christ set us free?

2. What did circumcision signify in the Old Testament? What is Paul's point about those who are being circumcised now? Is he against the act all together?

3. What is the difference between grace and the law?

4. Does verse six bring to mind any other familiar scripture passages? What is the emphasis of all of these passages? Do you think God is trying to tell us something?

5. Paul often uses athletic metaphors (examples), why? How is he using the one in verse 7?

6. Verse 9 seems to be set off a bit, what does that saying mean?

7. What would happen to Paul if he were to preach circumcision? How is Paul relating the cross and circumcision?

8. What is Paul's point in verse 12?

9. What does the freedom in Christ give us? How should we use it?

10. Verse 14 is the golden rule or the royal law and is sighted over and over again in scripture, why?

11. What is the battle that goes on inside of you? How do you solve it?

12. Compare the "fruits" of the sinful nature, and the "fruits" of the spirit. Which do you like better? What must we do to the sinful nature? When must we do it?
