1 Thessalonians 4

1. What was one thing Paul did talk about when he was with the Thessalonians?

2. What does he want from them? Why?

3. Where does Paul's authority come from?

4. What is God's will for the Christian? Why?

5. Are verses 3-6 just off the top of Paul's head or is he responding to something?

6. Christians are called to live what kind of life? Why?

7. What is the contrast in verses 9-10 to that which has proceeded them? What do you think is at the root of this whole discussion?

8. What is the encouragement in verse 10? And the plan for a good Christian life in verse 11-12? What do you make of that plan?

9. Ambition (to be found of honor). Is this followed or not in society today?

10. What was something Paul had not had time to get into while he was with them?

11. Who are those who are asleep? Who are those who have no hope?

12. What is implicit in the "if" (compare NIV to NASB) clause of verse 14? How certain can we be of the return of Christ?

13. List the series of events given here by Paul. Compare them to Revelation 19:11-21.

14. Who are the "dead in Christ?"

15. Why is this event often referred to as the "Rapture?"

16. What does Paul imply by his use of the word "we" in verse 17? Why does Paul write about these events?
